Activity Details
Welcome to Books on Holiday. The British Council in India and Sri Lanka has always given a lot of importance to books which help our customers to be successful and inspire them to explore new avenues. We have chosen 50 of the best contemporary books with a British connection and we are setting them out on a journey around the city, country and even the world. In the process, we will create book chains linking people together as the books are passed on from one person to another. You can be a part of Books on Holiday either by reading and passing a book around or by browsing our website and telling us what you thought about the books on offer.

If you have been handed a book which is part of the Books on Holiday activity, here’s what you do next
  • Go to the “Get Started Now” section on the home page and enter your book-code which can be found inside the book.
  • Enter your details on the page that follows, and confirm your location on Google Maps.
  • Read the book and tell us what you thought about it by rating and commenting on the book.
  • Pass the book on, once you’ve finished reading it, to a friend, colleague, relative or even a stranger!
  • Track the book you read as well as others as they travel around the city and beyond.
You can be a part of Books on Holiday even if you did not receive one of these books. Comment on and rate the various books on our list and interact with the other people who are part of the activity.

We have some really exciting prizes on offer for a few lucky people who are part of the longest book chains so keep passing the books and add to your chains.

And the winners are...
