Exploring the opportunities in Music
 
The British Council India cordially invites you to the third Indian edition of International Music Conference which began in the UK. Replete with workshops and discussions on how to run a music festival and develop a music-related business, this event would help you unearth career opportunities that lay unexplored in the field of music.
 
The event
 
Un-Convention, an open platform for music entrepreneurs and others to share insights on important issues that will carve the future of the music industry in India, the UK, and globally. This year Un-Convention will happen alongside India’s largest indie rock music festival - NH7 Weekender Festival. This three-day music festival will showcase the best of India’s independent music scene, across genres such as rock, metal, electronica and folk fusion, and will also include headlining performances by such UK artists as singer-songwriter Imogen Heap and house music duo Basement Jaxx.

Un-Convention workshops
 
a. Making the Festival and How Not to Run a Music Festival
Conducted by Gina Hewitt
Date: 19 November
Time: 11.00 a.m. - 12.30 p.m.
 
This workshop would discuss the essential elements of planning a music festival right first time. Right from ticketing to crowd management, this workshop would cover budget management, calendar planning, show advancing and artist liaison, media management, on-site communications, scenario planning and customer experience.
 
b. Promoting to Promoters
Conducted by Rob Challice, Jon Slade and Tom Baker
Date: 19 November
Time: 1.30 p.m. - 3.00 p.m.
 
This open dialogue would encourage discussions on two vital topics such as ‘what agents and promoters look for when looking for bands to work with’ and ‘What level do bands need to be before they need the services of an agent’.
 
c. Being Entrepreneurial with Music
Conducted by Dave Haynes, Adrian Cooke and Joe Vesayaporn
Date: 20 November
Time: 11.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
 
This workshop will help you learn everything about business and career development in music along with case studies from the current UK music industry.
 
 
d. What Makes a Perfect Festival?
Conducted by Ruth Daniel, Rob Challice and Natasha Haddad
Date: 20 November
Time: 1.30 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.
 
In this workshop, Ruth Daniel, Rob Challice and Natasha Haddad will talk about ‘what makes the perfect event, festival or club night’, ‘how to make money in such a competitive market’ and ‘how to build a live event from conception to delivery’.
