The British Council invites you for an exhibition that will present a wide-range of South Asian-British networks and interactions.
'Beyond the Frames' will commemorate South Asian contributions towards British sports, arts, domestic and intellectual life, resistance and activism, as well as national and global politics.
Developed from Making Britain, a project which examined the contributions made by South Asians on British culture, literature and politics, the exhibition will examine a wealth of new resources from the existing archives in India, Sri Lanka, the United States and Britain. Led by the Open University, London in collaboration with the University of Oxford and King’s College London, Beyond the Frames will tour six cities in India - Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad.
The inauguration will be closely followed by a discussion on Bharat Britain: South Asians Making Britain conducted by Susheila Nasta and Florian Stadtler, post-colonial scholars from The Open University, London along with Penny Brook from the British Library. They will also conduct workshops for selected participants in December.
