British Council India presents Virtual Education UK Exhibition where visitors can access and download information about the different courses from 25 participating UK universities, admission procedures, accommodation details, fee structure, student alumni information and more. Visitors can also do a live chat with delegates of the participating universities. Apart from this there will be subject specific webinars during the event.

Virtual exhibitions have been planned to provide an opportunity to showcase education UK to the public and key influencers online. It also helps provide information to the target audience who are considering a UK education but are geographically dispersed.

The Rationale

Besides, there is rapid increase in the number of people using internet in India. As per the latest study India has 45.3 million active internet users as on September 2008 and urban users continue to dominate internet use contributing to 42 million of the 45 million odd users.

In India, two virtual exhibitions have been held so far; one in the month of February 2010 and the second one from 15 July - 05 August 2010. There were 18 participating UK Universities in each of these online events. In the last event we had a total of 1, 28,757 unique visitor, around 788 participants participated in 35 chat sessions. Apart from this, more than 950 student queries were answered. The most visited booth was that of the Education UK. The chat sessions were found to be very useful by the visitors. Visa oriented chat sessions were also conducted by the UKBA team members during the event.
