Internationally acclaimed director, Kim Longinotto's “Pink Saris” is an unflinching and often amusing look at the all-woman vigilante Gulabi Gang in Northern India and Sampat Pal, their charismatic leader. Pal acts as a judge and jury for girls and women who are being abused by outlawed patriarchal traditions and the caste system.

On discovering his wife has a lover, amateur aviator Vincent takes drastic action by murdering them both. To his surprise he is found not guilty, unwittingly aided by the sympathetic judge who takes his side and fixes the trial. Years later the judge’s nephew wants his wife killed – she left him and he cannot forget her until she is dead. His uncle knows just who to call on, someone with experience in these matters and who’s not in a position to refuse. So the judge, his nephew and a reluctant Vincent set about the task.

As he can only work from photos of the boy, he invites the daughter to his studio to better understand his subjects. Their interaction exposes the dynamics of a dysfunctional and complex family.
