Gulf Stage brings theatre from the Gulf to a wider audience, utilising innovation and digital practice from the UK.
This unique digital project has been conceived by the British Council in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage (Qatar), The Cultural Development Centre (Qatar) and Digital Theatre (UK) to develop and promote the contemporary performing arts from the Middle East.
Six original theatre productions from the participating countries of the Gulf Co-operation Council Youth Theatre Festival (GCCYTF, Doha, Qatar 2010) have been digitally captured, alongside a professional development workshop in digital film making. This initiative seeks to represent the current contemporary Gulf cultural heritage and safeguard it digitally for future generations.
