The Reading Challenge
 
Inculcating reading habits
 
The British Library, Bangalore, invites your children to be a part of the Reading Challenge which happens to be an immensely popular and successful reading initiative run in UK libraries and schools.
 
How to take part?
Participation in the Reading Challenge programme is open for children aged between 4-12 years. The fee for the programme is 2000 per participant if you are a British Library member and 2500 if you are not a member. All participating children will be issued a card against which they can borrow two books at a time from the Space Hop collection.

On registration, Reading Challenge participants will receive their own exclusive membership card, Reading Challenge welcome pack, Bag, Space Hop folder, Space Hop notebook, accompanied with a certificate and medal on completion of the programme.
 
Program Schedule
The programme will commence from 9 April - 11 June.
 
 
Event and activities Age Group (4-7 years) Age Group (8-12 years)
Group readings - These moderated sessions will give children an opportunity to share stories with each other, talk about the books they are reading and imagine their own stories. Each session will be for an hour.

Workshop at Valley School - Exploring Space from a Jungle: Get inspired with the natural forms found in the Valley and imagine "Space". Create an imaginary composition on your canvas and model characters with clay.

Creative writing -
For 8 - 12 years olds
Exploring the spaces beyond: An interactive reading and writing session which explores the fascinating worlds beyond ours.

For 4 - 7 years olds
Hop and Land: An interactive session of reading and storytelling for the young adventurers.

14 May

21 May

Fancy Dress - An opportunity to express yourself as a character from one of your favourite books in the Reading Challenge programme.

30 April

 
Graduation - A day to celebrate your love for reading. Participating children will be given their certificates and medals during a special ceremony at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. Children will also get an opportunity to participate in some exciting activities at the planetarium.

11 June

 
 
The registration will start from 19 March, onwards.
