Lost on the edge of the Sahara desert, Photographer Mark Edwards, was rescued by a Tuareg nomad who took him to his people. As he rubbed two sticks together to make fire while playing Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall": "sad forests", "dead oceans", "where the people are many and their hands are all empty", an idea struck Edward. He decided to illustrate each line of the song through the pictures he clicked. In the years that followed, he travelled around the world on assignments that allowed him to take the photographs to turn Dylan’s prophetic words into images of the real world.
The result is Hard Rain, a 50-metre display that brings global challenges alive in a moving and unforgettable way. More than 15 million people on every continent have viewed these pictures. They have attracted huge support and endorsement of political and environmental leaders across the world.
After successful display across the globe, the Hard Rain Exhibition can now be experienced in India. British Council India brings to you the famous and critically acclaimed work of Mark Edwards through an exclusive exhibition. If you are concerned about the environment or interested in photography, do not forget to join us in the first week of September.
